  • The U.S. Department of Justice estimates that every day 160,000 students miss school because they fear harassment by bullies.
  • Olweus’ study shows Bullies identified by age eight are four times more likely to be convicted of a crime by the age of 24 and five times more likely than non-bullies to have serious criminal records by the age of 30.
  • Victims of bullying report fear of going to school, fear of riding the bus, physical symptoms of illness, progressively lower levels of self-esteem, and diminished ability to learn in school.
