ASSOCIATE CONSULTANT  Bachelors of Arts Mass Communications, Cerified Personal Trainer(Kinesiology AAAI), Ph.D student, Education (Walden University) As an enthusiastic motivational speaker, rapper, mentor, teacher and consultant Mr. Barbour thrives to revolutionize Human, Community and World Development. At the tender age of 10 and 11 "Marlon" as many know him grew up selling and stashing heroine and cocaine for several notorious drug dealers in the early "80's". As a former ward of the court under Baltimore's DHS system from the ages of 11 to 21 Marlon has lived in group home facilities, juvenile facilities and even spent six months in jail his senior year in high school for a Burglary in which he was falsely accused by his own foster parent. Inspite being falsely accused, bullied, involved in neighborhood gangs and ostracized by many, he believed that there must be light at the end of the tunnel. The light began to shine as Marlon used his artistic talents and gifts through singing and acting in schools. These passions along with being a gifted basketball player, rapper, and lover of people and fashion kept Marlon believing that greatness was destined for him. Despite all of the ironies and hardships, Marlon rose to leadership servicing several years in the U.S Naval Reserves, being awarded Entrepreneur Teacher of the year Award 2002, Business Center New Covenant Campus(affiliate of Mt. Airy Business Center). As well Mr. Barbour speaks regularly at schools, youth facilities and industries in Urban/Suburban communities that are geared toward empowering youth and individuals who want to become instruments of change and prosperity. Mr. Barbour continues to inspire youth across the country to find themselves by using motivational rap, poetry, clothing and physical exercises as conduits to evoke mental and spiritual liberation for total success of each recipient participating. Mr. Barbour also holds certifications in mentoring from the United Way of SouthEastern Pennsylvania, as well as Board Certified State Certification in T.S.S. work. |
